I use to like following LSU football...up until about 12 years ago. Maybe some different blood will help them out.
oach Miles is walking away with a $10 million buy out. Btw all SEC West coaches make at least $4 million/year.
Not bad...
I wasn't a big fan of his style - esmash mouth football - but he was the best available for LSU at the time after Saban resigned for the NFL.
He did recruit adequately but local state talent was disappearing to other places more and more. Saban introduced the I-10 corridor recruit strategy. If you focus your effort there, you have the best talent in the country.
Miles failed to bring in QBs, just imagine if LSU had Zak Prescott. They passed on him so he ended up at Miss. State.
I know someone that is on the Board of Trustees for LSU. (Son played on a travel soccer team with his son). He told me that Les Miles was one of the most outstanding men that he ever met as far as giving his time to various charities and developing personal relationships with kids with cancer. He personally gets involved with their lives.
He feels that his life has been extremely blessed and needs to give his time to others.
He'll bounce back somewhere where his skills are needed.
LSU will have a good season with Ed Orgeron. All they have to do is win against Bama and Arkansas and A&M and Miss.
Orgeron lives a few miles south of here. He's a native son who can coach.
Already silly rumors that they are talking to John Gruden since he is in town for Monday Night Football. He could fix the QB recruiting problem real quick.
Never know...Miles may end up back in OK. He is the best coach who has come out of OK in the last 15 years.
I can say from personal experience that Les is a great public speaker, but it was time for LSU to make a change.
LSU played so badly that even Auburn beat them!
