A little while ago, I jumped up to answer the phone and the laptop fell off the table and the screen hit the corner of a chair. Now the screen looks like a shattered pane of glass, although the screen itself isn't cracked. The bad thing is it's a laptop my wife borrowed from the school she teaches at. It's a kind of old Dell Inspiron 2650. I don't know if this is something that can be fixed or if it would even be worth it. I have a feeling it's toast, along with myself.

any replacement part for a laptop can be found at EBAY

another source
check here

I usually buy the parts and let my son do the work, it is my way of teaching him something I don't know.

Go to eBay, buy a working one for $50, swap the top part - good to go.

I have replaced many laptop screens, it is quick and easy work. Definitely worth pricing a replacement screen or looking for a junk laptop with a good screen. You can Google what models have interchangeable screens with your model and check ebay for a replacement.

Laptop screens are fairly easy to replace - the only trouble I've ever had is with the tiny little screws they sometimes use for the bezels.
