The Exploder is at the street end of the driveway. Then I only have to dig from the truck back to the street, about twenty feet, to get it out.
The path you see is from the house door to the truck. I left most of my 80 foot driveway full of snow.

Grand Rapids, eh? Home to the only salmon ladder I have ever seen. Almost hypnotizing to stare at the water waiting for a glimpse of a Coho.

Just yesterday I mentioned Grand Rapids to a few friends. We were discussing the numbers of water fowl moving through our area. I told them of the time I drove an hour or so north of Grand Rapids to see the largest accumulation ever. I swear it was nothing but massive flocks for nearly 10 miles along both sides of the highway. Couldn't remember the name of the nearest town, so gave Grand Rapids as a reference point. That truly was an unbelievable sight. One would not want to go see Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds shortly before driving through such a scene. They were clear up to the very edges of the asphalt due to the crowding.

We got to NYC (9 of us) about 7 AM on Sunday morning. Around noon we went into the Natural History Museum (no precip) and came out about 4:30 with steady snow. Here are a couple of pics from that evening:

We went to Chinatown for dinner, then headed back uptown to Times Square around 10 PM. The walk from the Times Square subway station to our hotel was brutal, the wind driven snow stung pretty good. The next morning we went out to a "winter wonderland".

I was hoping to meet Scott for lunch, but I could see that wasn't a good idea. We did make it down to ground zero and went through the Tribute site-very moving, I was close to tears. Still unbelievable to me that there could have been such a tragedy caused by lunatics.

We were supposed to head back to Pittsburgh late Monday, but that got delayed until Tuesday AM. So, we did some more shopping Monday evening.

I was the "leader" of the group, since I was the only one who knew my way around. If I have to count to nine one more time...(I had to keep making sure we weren't losing anyone as we walked around).

Not as much snow as we had in Pittsburgh in February, but much stronger winds.

All in all I though they did a good job in Manhattan getting things cleared enough to function. We didn't venture out of Manhattan, but I hear they didn't do so well in the other boroughs, as most areas don't have the underground subway.

As soon as we left New Jersey on I-80, the snow disappeared.
