Let me preface this by making it very clear that I AM NOT that ideal crazed shopper that the retailers are looking for on Black Friday, or any day for that matter. I am far too practical. Most everything that they would actually put a huge sales reduction price on is something that I do not want or need at most any price. When there is something I do want or need, I buy it. Simple as that.
Anyway, today I had occasion to wander off 30 miles from home to the big city. First stop was going to be at the barber shop. Guess what? All three of them took the day off. So I drive another two blocks to the office supply store prepared to drop a couple hundred bucks. Guess what? It was closed, too. Finally spent $5 at the automatic car wash. Woohoo!
Drove by Best Buy yesterday on the way to the supermarket to get some last minute groceries for Thanksgiving. Wife asked me "when did they start selling tents their?"
Those people are nuts. I'm all about Cyber Monday!
Black Friday Shopping Success
I have been meaning to upgrade my 12 guage from and ancient jc penny to something more modern, that can handle steel shot and take 3 1/2" shells. I had my eye on the Mossberg 535 combo.
Well SWMBO and I drive down to Wilkes Barre PA each thanksgiving so I figured that maybe, just maybe, I could drive down this morning, pick up the gun and be back by lunch. The Mossberg combos were not in stock, not the 500 or the 535. But I found a used 835, camo, that I did get.
Over all I was in the store an hour and a half, from walking in to walking out with the gun. I think the bacground check took an hour. I was told that this morning, whem they opened at 5am there were 4000 folks waiting and they couldn't even start call ins for the back ground checkuntil 8 so they were three hours late right at the get go.
Parking was easy, no wait at the gun counter, five minute wait for the computer to enter my data and then an hour wait to get that back and another 5 minute wait to check out. Im sure glad i waited until 9 to leqve this morning. It took just over an hour to get there and back. Not to bad and a morning well spent driving the backroads of PA.
