An amusement on a Friday. This very short video (40 sec but it repeats) is a few years old but I just saw it in a FB feed.?ÿ

Dad is speaking Welsh while Mom is speaking English with a Belfast accent.?ÿ

YouTube: bilingual toddler

I don't remember enough Welsh to catch Dad's question but he does say, "Da iawn," (very good) after his son, Liam, says "mæ".

Cute.?ÿ Of the two, I would go with the Welsh version, myself.?ÿ But, then, I believe I have more ancestry from Wales than Northern Ireland.

Let the link moove (see what I did there) on the next little video clip and you get a funny lesson in how to pronounce the days of the week in Welsh.?ÿ Dydd Iau has the second word end with an I sound.?ÿ That agrees with the European use of au or aug meaning eye.?ÿ As I have Eye ancestors, this has been learned to help trace back to "the old country".?ÿ Somewhere I read the name Sponaugle refers to being squinty-eyed.?ÿ In my case, it goes back to little communities where Au was all or part of the name.

Judge for yourself the true sound.

The first moo is, "Gotta poop, gotta poop right now"

The second moo is "Bull, that felt gooooood"

The third moo is, "Enough of that poop.?ÿ Time to eat again."
