I just started this one last night. I found it in the "bargain book" bin at a Border's while passing through Stockton last weekend. It's the story of a young cartographer who maps everything in his life including people and activities. It's abundantly illustrated with his maps and charts and drawings. Fascinating so far. It was apparently quite well received when it first came out; I don't know why it's being remaindered already.

Don,

It sounds like a good read. I am going see if it is available in ebook or pdf format. You can usually obtain same from Google for free.

On another note, I am an avid reader of ebooks since obtaining a “nook” from Barnes & Nobel. Anyone with an ipad, or any other capable ebook reader can download all sorts of stuff for free. Recently I stumbled across some fantastic reading from an author named Emerson Hough. Specifically, “The Lady and the Pirate”, “The Covered Wagon” and “The Land of the Law”. In my opinion these are excellent reads, that being said Google their free books and check them out yourself! I hope whatever ereader you have has a built in dictionary. Thank heavens mine does because I need it!:-P

Have a great weekend!

I would like to recommend Wilbur Smith. "River God" and "Sunbird" are 2 of his best.

Thank you Mike!

I shall investigate immediately. That is, as soon as I return from the grocery store. SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) wants roast beef hoagies “au jus” along with kidney bean and broccoli salad. I grill the hoagies and prepare the au jus while she makes the broccoli salad. All of which I ingest with copious amounts of beer!:-)

Have a great weekend! And thanks for the info!

People seem to be enthusiastic about the ebook readers. Is it difficult to transition from a physical book? It seems to me that it would be but I guess I feel that way about a lot of things I've been doing only one way for my entire life.
I can certainly see the advantages though. I only resisted the EDM for a little while.

Just transitioned from the Hank Aaron bio to the Satchel Paige bio.

Both from Mobile Alabama.....interesting stuff, especially the Aaron book.

Heck no, actually it is much easier than one would anticipate. And in addition it is lighter than a regular paperback. As with “regular paperbacks” or text books there is no backlight to assist you in your endeavors. Research the multitude of ereaders available and then draw your own conclusions. Hope this helped!

Have a great weekend!

I'm hooked on "Bonkers" magazines. They're great!! :good:

Getting ready to buy "The Power". I read "The Secret" and thought it was pretty damn good. "The Power" is suppose to be something like part 2 of it. I got to read chapter 1 before Borders closed and thoroughly enjoyed it so I figured I better not go with the cheapskate in me this time and just buy the dang book since it is a book I'll read over and over. Course it's 30% off + I have another $5 off so that helps. (OK cheapskate in me coming out again!!) 😉
