I guess Stoops and the Sooners get to square off against Saban and the Tide.

2013 Sugar Bowl

Should be an interesting game. Stoops is 2-1-1 against the Tide.

OKLAHOMA is 2-1-1. Stoops is 2-0 against Alabama and 0-1 against Nick Saban.

A quick snapshot in the future Red-River Rivalry matchup.

Saban will be heading to Austin next year. Will likely never be a Bear Bryant in Alabama.

Nick Saban isn't going to Texas. At Alabama, he has complete control of the program Texas won't let that happen.

I'm starting to see a common theme in College football coaching nowadays. Coach pledges his commitment to his current team and city. Other schools president rebuts the rumors. Coach rebuts the rumors. Coach is signed with other school within the month.

I would not be surprised. Texas operating expenses are deep. Just sayin.

Well..the word that has been coming out of Tuscaloosa for weeks is that Mrs. Saban says NO to Austin.
Saban has a big ego but I think that he sees himself at Bama and the legacy of being on par with Bear Bryant. Bama will match any Texas $$$ if that was the scenario.
One of the keys to Saban's success since his LSU days is recruiting the I-10 corridor from Houston to Jacksonville. I don't think that he wants to lose this advantage even though FSU could start hindering his recruiting skills.

Last night while watching the Saints -Panther game in the 1st quarter, they did that thing where they flash video clips of the players stating their name and educational background.

When they were doing the Panther defense there was a player named Greg Hardy who just replied in his clip with

" Kraken....Hogwarts "

We laughed out loud and replayed it to see if he really did say it. The announcers didn't catch it at all.

Kraken

Texas still does things the old school SWC way; the boosters set the players salaries, not the coach.

A lot of players state their high school, even elementary school. Went to college with a fellow named Jared Allen, and he never gave props to the University, simply mentioned something to the nature of Kraken. Rightfully so, we were terrible in football. Can't blame the guy.

I worked (and lived TDY) with a bunch of guys from Tuscaloosa back in the late '70s.
One fall we worked all over the South from Panama City to Texarkana.

Them boys took their football serious. We got kicked out of more than one hotel room because of them watching football...getting in arguments...kicking holes in the walls, etc. They were a fun, hard working bunch.

Since then I've always been an Alabama Fan. Football down there ranks right up there with Mama and God. I'd hate to try and figure out that heirarchy...

Saban is a great coach. So is Mack Brown. There are many, many men that make college coaching their life's work. And they are all great.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Saban in Texas. It wouldn't surprise me if he spits on the ground when he hears the word 'Texas'. Nobody will know 'til it happens....

Saban being a coach in Texas makes as much as Switzer coaching the Dallas Cowboys or anywhere in Texas.

It all about power and money.

Nothing good will come from it.

Saban and Texas

Just to be consistent, if Saban indeed goes to Austin, he'll announce it on Christmas Day, just like he did when he was at LSU. (That was after weeks of denials ...)

At least Switzer was able to win a Super Bowl. Unlike Bum's kid, or the Ginger they have in there now!
