My wife calls me to the utility room on Saturday because it looks like a wasp is building a nest around the line from the patio security camera. I get on the ladder, and no, it is not mud, it is lint and fluff. About 2" long and 1" thick. I removed it.

Sunday it was back, exact same shape, material, size, and location.

Monday there was a minor addition of a wisp about 3" long. We are mystified, so I moved the camera into the utility room to catch the critter in action. And what do you suppose it is?

A hummingbird! I would not have believed it.

Oh, yes, it has a home there if it wants. Now I feel bad I removed the first nest.

That's terrific!

Hopefully the ruby throats will be back here in Ohio in a month or so. It's pretty cold here for April.

I don't know how many types of hummingbirds you have in Arizona, but it's a bunch! My first visit to Tucson back in the 80's included a visit to the hummingbird aviary at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and I will never forget the experience. Plus, it was the hottest day ever recorded at the museum at 117 degrees.

Probably was mostly spider web silk, which hummers use for their nests. This time of year you can see them flitting about under your eaves, looking for webs to pillage.
