My oldest son who has lived in Denver recently relocated to Phoenix. He decided to take a long weekend and head back to Denver to visit friends. He hit snow and stayed in Albuquerque last night. I just talked with him on the phone and he made it to Raton, but apparently I-25 is closed between Raton and Trinidad. Anybody got a good guess as to how long it takes CDOT to get the pass open this time of year?
I did tell him to grab a room before they all filled up. 😉
Close, but you missed it by 10 miles. Raton is in New Mexico where @Scotland puts in his time. The elevation of Raton Pass is too much for this old flatlander. Besides, the bear crossing signs discourage one from stopping alongside the highway to take pictures of the scenery.

More than likely won't open till tomorrow. This blowing snow has been he'll. Can get a app called Colorado roads or new Mexico roads. Have a live can on top of the pass too.

Anyone silly enough to want to try to drive into Colorado from Kansas at this time needs to forget about it. Here's what's happening near where Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado meet.

Quite the storm. Stuck inside all day with the family and the pets. Luckily our power has stayed on this time. Last two storms knocked down power poles and we were dark for hours. (KNOCK ON WOOD!) Would highly recommend to get a room and wait it out. Should be gone in the morning. I heard the pass is open now... but it is slick and low visibility.
