I was visiting my father this week and looking at the home town newspaper and saw an article about Jim Fowler celebrating his 82nd birthday. Jim is from Albany Georgia where I grew up.
Do you remember Jim Fowler? How about Marlin Perkins and "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom"? Jim Fowler was the fellow who wrestled the pythons, hog tied the rhinos and in general did all the stunts on the show. 82, MAN how time flies.

He was "the kid" to Marlin Perkins' grandfatherly educator role on the show. That show came on right before "The Outer Limits" early on Sunday evenings. Prior to that it came on right before "The Twentieth Century" with Walter Cronkite.
We had a saying at the shop said in best Marlin Perkins voice, "I'll wait in the Land Rover while Jim goads the angry lion".
I seem to remember Wild Kingdom being a weekend show when I was young. Can't remember if it was Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. It usually bored me to tears, but with 3 channels on a black and white TV, there was nothing else better.
