Actually, according to my old unix book, ma bell started unix and the Internet in the mid 70's.
It sure took off in the short span of 20 years. I first got on the web in 1995 with a website on how to build a general purpose atomic bomb...my life has never been the same since.
I thought the purpose of the internet was to expand fruitless political debates down at the neighborhood bar into nationwide forums.
Al Gore invented it but did not have the fortitude to develop it!!
