A body was found today 80 kilometres, yes eighty kilometres! down stream from the first country township hit by the unannounced wall of water that swept houses away hundreds of metres with people trapped inside.

It is a daunting task for service personnel and volunteers looking for 51 missing persons who if drowned their bodies could be kilometres away off the original water course, dumped or trapped in debris, fencing or where the water rapidly receded. The search area where the initial flood fanned out will be hundreds of square kilometres.

For a comparison of the magnitude of flooding the total area that is/was flooded is well over the area of Texas!

Remarkably areas of Brisbane (capital city of Queensland) have seen flood waters drop as much as 4 metres in less than 24 hours. Thousands of volunteers have moved into down town Brisbane cleaning up the mud and debris spoiled in the homes and businesses that is already stinking in the sun from sewerage.

While I know that there will be a lot of public infra structure requiring replacement in Brisbane and across the state I have no knowledge if there could be a need for surveyors and engineers for the next year.

The Youtube video of a Toowoomba creek is incredible. Water can be a powerful (and dangerous) force.

Yea, I thought, solely by the looks of it, that looked like it had to be a dam break or something.

We just finished up work on a dam just south of Brisbane. One of our guys just sent me a link to an article about bull sharks being spotted swimming in the streets.
