Tsunami warning has been cancelled.
Saw this on twitter between two friends (in PA & OR)
PA: "Paul, do you live near the coast"
OR: "Not yet"
I got the shake alert and thought, "This must be a mistake -- we never feel earthquakes here." Then the house started creaking. I moved to the doorway of my office and could feel the swaying. After a minute or so I was concerned enough that I decided to get out of the house. Even on my driveway I could feel the swaying. It was eerie.
I was on the bottom floor of a dormitory at College of the Redwoods when a 7.3 hit off Eureka on November 8, 1980. An experience I will never forget. My daughter is a chemist in a lab in Arcata and this one jolted them pretty strongly, but nothing in the lab fell or broke, which is a good thing with all those chemicals.
The quake I was in is number 4 on this list.
