The Wingmaster would get my vote too. Not that cheap but worth the extra.
Mossberg is a great gun, but won't handle a "lot" of shooting, the newer models are better, and good hunting guns, but for trap etc... they won't hold up like the Remington will.
Kris, wanna sell that Sweet 16? I can't think of a better bird gun, been looking for years. My Red Labels do a great job, but I still want to try a 16.
Browning's BPS is also worth a look.

I just had my brothers Wingmaster Cerakoted for his birthday (satin black) My home defense express is getting a new OD Green finish as well.
I have a Savage copy, from the 50s, in 12 gauge.

Model 720?
That was my first gun (12ga with the Savage branded Cutt's polychoke); my grandfather gave me his for Christmas when I was five.
Dan
Yep, with the same polychoke.

Nice set of Brownings. It must be a little difficult to find shells for the Sweet 16. My grandpa's brother had one of those shotguns.

If I have my way, no one other than a direct male, blood decendent of me will own that gun. 🙂
In short, thanks, but no thanks. 🙂

Kinda what I figured Kris. I keep hearing the same thing with the ones I can find around here. Oh well, never hurts to ask.
Many organizations do it all the time in CA. There must be some permit/license where the State is just ensuring that they get a cut of the action, or there is some slight semantic and procedural work around that these organizations use that makes what looks like a raffle not quite a raffle by definition under CA law.

I bought my 870 Express in 1987. It didn't have the more polished finish of the Wingmaster I had owned a couple years prior, but I still have the Express and have noticed no problems with the finish.
I bought a Winchester 94 about 10 years ago though, and found out the other day that the finish on the receiver is painted or baked on and not blued in because it has now started flaking off. WTH is up with that!?! I'm going to get rid of that thing and get a Marlin Guide Gun. Very disappointed in Winchester.
Back to the Remington/Mossberg poll question, I'd be more likely to buy a ticket for a Remington. I've owned several and all have been excellent quality. Mossberg used to be a cheaper brand commonly found in department stores. In those stores (Sears, Penney, and even Kmart), the Remingtons and Winchesters were the top end of what they carried and the Mossberg, Savage, and Stevens were the lower, or more economical brands. I understand Mossberg quality is much better now, but shooters in their late 40s or older may still hold to that impression of them being a cheaper gun.

About 8 when I kept after Dad to shoot a real gun. He finally had enough and brought out his 12 gauge, believe it was a Remington pump and no recoil pad. After the first round and not falling or dropping the thing I was asked if I wanted another shot, knowing that if I didn't shoot it again, it would be years before I had another chance, so I fired that second round. I do have a 12 gauge short barreled pump but I never have cared much for shotguns, but get along fine with handguns and rifles.
