I was happy (and somewhat startled) to see on?ÿthe news the other day?ÿthe 3 year old?ÿlost in the woods for two evenings was found alive and well.?ÿ With temps hovering near freezing and?ÿnearly 2 inches of rain on the second night I'm sure there were a lot of folks that probably thought the worst..but not Casey himself.?ÿ?ÿOne sharp-eared volunteer heard Casey calling for his mother.?ÿ He was found in a brier thicket a little scratched and worse for wear, but alive and hungry.?ÿ A 25 pound, two and a half feet tall human didn't have good odds after two nights in the woods under those conditions.?ÿ Hypothermia can?ÿwaste a full grown human?ÿin a shorter period.?ÿ The story is fantastic.
But after his rescue Casey told hospital staff he found a friend in?ÿthe woods, a bear.?ÿ And as the news article I read pointed out...there is no evidence of such...put there is no evidence it isn't true either.?ÿ How Casey survived is a secret known only to Casey and the Craven County, NC woods.
But some of us have retained?ÿour inner child and still have that hope.?ÿ We all know how Casey survived.

It's an amazing story. There was another lost child at Rankin Lake last year. It didn't turn out so well for that child. It made me doubt they would find Casey alive too. My daughter is 3 1/2. I couldn't imagine it.
