Any of you Florida Surveyors play in this game? If so, I want to see some pics!

They may as well try to clear the beaches of sand. Pythons have taken over the everglades and have successfully depleted the populations of every critter native to the area. It's going to get worse before it gets better, if ever. Only hope is that they start eating each other. ???? ?ÿ
Really? That's pretty amazing. Sounds like they should be outlawed for pets.?ÿ
Also - sounds like a great TV show platform that could de-thrown Swamp People.
Quote from USGS:
Non-native Burmese pythons have established a breeding population in South Florida and are one of the most concerning invasive species in Everglades National Park. Pythons compete with native wildlife for food, which includes mammals, birds, and other reptiles. Severe mammal declines in Everglades National Park have been linked to Burmese pythons.
The most severe declines in native species have occurred in the remote southernmost regions of Everglades National Park, where pythons have been established the longest. In a 2012 study, populations of raccoons had dropped 99.3 percent, opossums 98.9 percent, and bobcats 87.5 percent since 1997. Marsh rabbits, cottontail rabbits, and foxes effectively disappeared.
The mammals that have declined most significantly have been regularly found in the stomachs of Burmese Pythons removed from Everglades National Park and elsewhere in Florida. Raccoons and opossums often forage for food near the water’s edge, which is a habitat frequented by pythons in search of prey.
Most people don't care but their Grandchildren will.
man talk about an easy side gig if you were on a crew that surveyed the everglades frequently... Do you have to catch them alive & is there a limit or hunting license for them? Cause if not then I'd seriously be tempted to shoulder a home defense 12 gauge with some 3" #2 goose loads & just have at it when I stumbled across one haha. I remember a dam project needing to get reconstructed about a decade ago and the downstream side had a beaver swamp area that was LOADED with moccasins & snapping turtles. The contractor's employees putting in the silt fencing near the dam's toe had a field day with several 12 gauges and some dove loads due to the moccasins constantly approaching them (literally they'd start to charge anybody walking the boundary or installing the fence). They ended up bagging over 13 in one day alone but claimed they had a big lurker moccasin that was over 4" in diameter that just watched them from a distance on a log getting some sun. I remember inspecting one of the sediment traps that was full of water for the subdivision next to that particular dam - I was just looking at the skimmer & this 5' moccasin just slips off the bank about 10' from me into the water. I almost ran over the superintendent behind me haha
You can kill them all you want. If you want any money for your efforts it has to be alive.
Glad to see that someone else besides me has been chased by a moccasin. Nobody believes they will come after you. I have had more of those things come after me than I care to remember. ????
I have had more of those things come after me than I care to remember.
I almost hit the like button; but nobody should ever like that...
Teach everyone how to cook them and let them know how to make them taste good and people will be thrashing thru the glades for them.

I read on the googles that they are dangerously high in mercury. I’m sure we could ship them to another country as a delicacy.
@flga
I know man it is crazy to hear people say "oh they're more afraid of you than you are of them..." haha. I always carry a shovel or stick or something with me when I get near the woods or swamp.
in regards to the pythons in Florida though, how do they manage to get them out alive without one starting to constrict you? do people tranquilize them or something? I mean it sounds pretty dangerous to me plus the only "good" python is a dead python I would think? Sure don't want to risk it escaping back into the wild again
hey maybe serve it as an nice appetizer paired with some fancy champagne at the 2020 DNC? meanwhile all the crooked old politicians can speak out about greed, corruption, wealth, privilege and all those DREAMERS needing our tax dollars! haha just kidding creepy uncle joe!
