Hovering a helicopter over my head is not a safe practice.

I've done a bit of Search and Rescue work. I distinctly remember waiting under a hovering Huey for the winch line to come down. Very large and very green, it was to quote Douglas Adams "hanging in the air the same way bricks dont". It is not a place I would recommend being if at all avoidable...

I believe it becomes a different matter when you fly a remote controlled aircraft and you are doing it for money. You have to have FAA approval and those are area specific. That is why "Dark Wing" that Trimble recently bought cannot be flown in the US.

As for the folks spying on the Pigeon shoot I guess they flew to low. I was always told you own the airspace that you can reasonably control. Maybe a little redneck but if I can shoot it down I would say I can control that airspace. Providing what I am shooting is legal.
