Why are some people so freaking cc happy!

I am going to create a new rule that automatically archives email I'm cc'd on, and just start skimming them once a week.

Some people think email=production and that is absolutely NOT the case, email always seems to interrupt my productivity.

Very few of my weekly emails are from actual clients needing a response. Easily the biggest drawback to working for a larger company is the fact that I get 100+/- emails per day.

I'm retired so this is not a problem now. However, many years ago I learned to treat email, voice messages and conventional "snail mail" the same. I would start the day by reviewing emails and voice messages. Open the conventional mail when delivered. Made notes and set priorities for responses, closed email program and sorted conventional mail for later. Usually took twenty minutes or less total.

Then I went on with my day and got the real work done. Toward the end of the day I would return to my notes and start through the list. As soon as my emails were sent close the email program again!! I found this reduced my knee jerk reactions to some aggravations and satisfied most people as far as getting a prompt reply. While there are always a few exceptions to the process I found it worked very well.
