From the local news today: "If the estimates stand, Crook County – which just broke from having the state’s highest jobless rate for the first time in four years – will have another statistic to deal with: It lost 205 residents, or 1 percent, to a population of 20,650 this year. That’s the biggest numerical and percentage drop among Oregon’s 36 counties."
Not much need for survey crews around here, while I have never depended too much on the local economy, it is brutal of late, not just locally, but statewide and even regionally. Time to travel!

Sad to hear those numbers. Seems like much of the state is the same way. I wish you safe travels Shelby.
Join the herd.
Been doing that since 2006. In a couple of months it will 7 years in this stretch.
B-)
Oh, me too, it just seems the radius has gotten a LOT bigger, I have done federal DoD work coast to coast over the years, BUT I was able to keep in the NW with that exception, I don't see any big amount of Federal work trickling down with the budget like it is and with the regional work all but gone it is a game changer.

Thanks Jered!

If you are willing to travel, construction, particularly heavy industrial, is the way to go. You will have to go south to avoid the unions if you aren't already a member, but the money is very good and with your credentials you should command top dollar.
Just the sight of your survey rig should let them know you are the pro from Dover.....
Welcome to the land of hope and change.
