Option 1 sucks and is no option as I would never go to work for anyone who was at one time a subordinate employee of mine.
Option 2 on the surface is possible, of course the duties would have to be nailed down. Would you have to do marketing and drum up work or is there enough work already contracted. I hate marketing.
Option 3??..well what are you gonna get for forking over a lot of money. A bunch of old records and wore out equipment and trucks.
Screw ??em all and go solo.
I'm 53 now and this is my second surveying business. I allowed the first one to die during the recession and took a job with the power company 12 years ago and 2 years ago they decided that a bunch of layoffs was the ticket to success so I am doing the solo thing again. I am pretty much unemployable though and don't play well with others so being solo is my only real option because I am not going to drive to Atlanta to make a decent salary. I wont even stop in Atlanta to drop a turd.
