I'm interested in finding a project management software that will allow my team to track progress of tasks and share knowledge about projects. Ideally we could create custom templates for different project types, track hours inside it, and store project related files inside the database. I want something better than excel, our current technique. If it enabled me to track bids, winds/losses, clients.. that would be awesome too.

Ideally a software that could help me track a project from RFP to completion, with time tracking and task status, plus support for file attachments.

Does anything exist or am I dreaming? I'm just interested to hear what other companies are using to track their projects and share knowledge across team members.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Virtually every project management job opening that I see requires experience with Microsoft Project. I have no idea what it does, what it's cost and overhead are or how appropriate it might be. You can get a free 60-day look here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-project-professional-2016 .

Sounds like you are looking for an enterprise planning software. I asked around before and they do not come cheap. In the end, I use a small service for all the projects and my office and field are able to access it and for planning purposes I use asana project management. Nice to have all in one but the costs were a major factor for me.
