Six of the last eight jobs I have accepted are from past clients.?ÿ One as recent as four months ago and one as far back as 1992.?ÿ One of the first time clients is the first cousin of a client from last month.?ÿ The other first time client is someone I have known for almost sixty years but has never been in need of a survey until now.

Had a call last week from a fellow with a familiar name.?ÿ I knew who it must be but I've only met the guy once or twice because he was in high school during the same time as my sister.?ÿ As I recall he was expelled prior to graduating.?ÿ So, I was prepared when I called him, as I knew he didn't have a great reputation.?ÿ The fellow on the phone sounded to be in the right age category based on several things he said.?ÿ We went through all the necessary discussion fine.?ÿ Then I had to ask, "Say, is this the same (name) who went to high school............................

"No. I'm not originally from here.?ÿ But, this question has come up plenty of times during my fourteen years of living here.?ÿ I'm not the one who has his name in the police beat several times each year and I have never been in jail.?ÿ I fully understand why you are asking me about this.?ÿ He may be a far off distant cousin, though, as the (surname) family came to Massachusetts in 1622.?ÿ My side slowly worked west about as far as Wisconsin.?ÿ I'm the first to come here.?ÿ I believe he is from the side of the family that headed for Georgia and gradually worked this direction over the centuries.

Whew!!!!?ÿ Dodged that bullet.

Another recent client has a project that had me pulling out my survey nearby from 1990.?ÿ Another recent client has a project that fits between a 1999 survey of mine and another survey of mine from December.?ÿ One of the repeat clients is getting his new tract to wrap around his old tract but it's coming out of the same parent tract as a survey I completed in December.?ÿ Two other current projects will be based on my work in the 1990's across the street from the current tracts.

I've been doing topo surveys on the local university campus since 1998.?ÿ There are some trees and improvements that I've located in 3 different decades due to overlapping project scopes.?ÿ It won't be long before I can make that 4 different decades.

@jim-frame

i've now got my first 3-decade job, though just barely (did the original in '09).?ÿ tricky downtown site that people keep trying to make a run at and calling me to help.?ÿ you'd think somebody might latch onto the fact that my original survey is what turned the lightbulb on to how tricky the site is.?ÿ oh well...
