I read some older post on this topic earlier and brought it up to my employer. I was told we do not fall under the prevailing wage guidelines since we are providing a professional service. Several post on here contradict his opinion. Does anyone have a simple answer to this question and a link I can find the necessary information to show him, if he is in fact wrong. Also, does this apply to both licensed and non-licensed members of the crew while performing construction stakeout?
Paul,
this may help:
In my 8 years of construction surveying I never once got paid Prevailing Wage for Surveyors in a High Scale or Davis Bacon job. I only received Laborer rates that were covered for the prevailing wages. I'm also in PA. I did some research on it back when I saw a pay scale for surveyors and I think only near Pitt and Philly is where you actually get paid the Prevailing Wage for Surveyors. But, that could be wrong or different now.

Down here (one state south) prevailing wages have always been set by county to take into effect different wage structures across the state.
EDIT they're not "set", they're "established" based on surveys of current wages being paid
For anyone interested or wondering, the PSLS website states we are classified as carpenters and subject to prevailing wage on state funded projects. This information can be found under the members only section. There is no information when this went into effect.
