Posted this in error under non-surveying and couldn't edit

What does a/d mean? used in the context Ben Smith a/d Benjamin smith a/d Beniamino Smith. I think it means "also designated as" (They are one in the same person)

I think that is probably what it means, but "aka" would have been better.
