If anyone has a general, hourly rate, staking contract for construction staking and would like to share it so I could possibly use part of it, would love to have copy of same emailed to me.
What do you need to stake, a drain field or a 4 mile long suspension bridge with a Mall at one end? Different tools, different talent and knowledge. I don't do any construction staking anymore, I might go out to put out a fire to save someone having a crew travel 150 miles for one or two stakes, been a long time since I did that.

As far as construction type. Building construction stakeout, specifically a Hotel. Curbs, building layout, etc.
As far as me. I read the board a lot more than I post. Just not in to it as much as I was. I camped not to far from you in North Texas at Big Sandy a few weeks ago, crossed my mind to come see you (Nate) but we were flying low. We are all fine. Work on one hand is slow compared to prior years, but we have stayed day by day nearly fully booked and financially are having a good year, espcially considering we have spent nearly a month out traveling and camping, and are going again this weekend. Still buying and selling music gear as a hobby, so if anyone needs and amp or guitar or PA gear or whatever... My son Wayne opened his own Law Practice in January and now has 5 girls 7 and under.
Sam, you got Mail. I do this type of work all the time. Feel free to call me if you have any questions. Number is in email and on my web site.

If you were in Big Sandy, you were actually closer to me and Shaw, Brooks and Andy Harris that anyone else. Big Sandy is about 1 1/2 hours from me.
As far as construction, I hate it. So I have a minimum 8 hour day for any parts thereof. It prevents a stupid GC calling for a stake here and there. If they know they're gonna get hit with 8 hours, they tend to save it up and get their moneys worth.
As far as rates go, take whatever your hourly is and add at least 10% to it. For something that damn tedious and boring, it's got to be worth it.
For the hotel, are you only laying out the ground floor with cuts/fills and they're going vertical with it, or are you going to go vertical with it? I don't go vertical, even for two stories. Ralph and Scott do this.
Remember, freesectioning is your friend, just make sure the control is uber tight.

6 stories is as high as we have ever worked on. Not too many high rises in Chattanooga. I have seriously considered walking on this project. We have already staked all the dirt work, paving, curbs, utilities, retaining walls, etc. Now they are ready to start on the building and are changing contractors and I want a new...tight...contract. One of the subs still owes me money and is wanting more work. I sent him an email today....
Glad to hear from you Sam.
We are a couple of hours south of you and bill out at $125 per hour with a 2 hour minimum.
$125/hr. Don't do hardly any SO these days (for other than myself). Rate shows the big squeeze. That's what I charged ten years ago. Since the dollar is only worth about half what it was 10 years ago we are all working for about half the value we used to. 5 years from know it will still be $125/hour and the dollar will be lucky to buy 10% of the 2000 value. Better start growing you own food! Welcome to the biggest debtor nation on earth. Suppose we should be glad to have any paying work at all.
Another day, another dollar.
I CHARGE THE SAME HOURLY RATE...

There are very few reasons to be in Big Sandy.
One is that it is a wet spot in the middle of an hour drive in any direction thru dry area.
I did pass thru there several times a few weeks back on the way to and from Tyler.
