Living in the Sahel region in the 1970's I ate my share of camel. Mostly we were told it was meat with no further clarification.?ÿ

Not tender young camel but casualties of overwork and the harsh environment. Pretty tough.

Fair.

It was very disturbing watching the camel races on television. No jockeys just small robotic whips. That's really over the top in my opinion.

But hey. Old and tough could just be over cooked.?ÿ

Did it at least taste good?

Near anything tastes good when properly spiced. Street food in Niamey was generally good. Of course weƒ??re talking >40 years ago. Good beer, Biere Niger came in liter bottles.

so I can blow out the mental cobwebs without much care for other's feelings for a couple or three days

That's a very good way to phrase that thought.?ÿ My wife doesn't understand that sometimes I just want to run errands alone. It's quicker and only the Neanderthal parts of my brain that handle automatic things like heart beat, breathing, and driving need to be active.
