I have Clark on Surveying and Boundaries 7th edition on loan from the library and am enjoying the book/writing style (easy to read language, clear diagrams). So I started wondering about the original author. I assume a lawyer? a surveyor? I did some online searches, but wasn't successful.

I'm pretty sure he was a civil engineer.

Thanks. I think that worked. Once I added the word engineer to the search, I found a few references to Minnesota bar, and subsequently this bio. I think this is the same person. The timing seems right since the first edition was published?ÿ in 1922.?ÿ Seems like his father was a surveyor, and he briefly tried it before going into law.

At a time when "civil engineer" and "surveyor" were nearly synonymous terms.
