Time for a New Gun (TS) - Best Tracking?

@beuckie

Srx was the first one I used. It was slow and heavy was the biggest issue. Also lots of glitches because we ran it with fieldgenius, but it did last a long time and was reliable. When we got the ix we discovered it was basically unusable with fieldgenius. Struggled with updates and salesman/tech support until they let us trade a fieldgenius license for magnet which I didn't know how to use but it was still a huge improvement. Tracking was terrible though, I hope you don't have the same experience I did with the ix. It sits on a shelf now where nobody uses it.

On the Srx i ran survCE for 5 years without problems. Been running Magnet Field ever since without problems.

I do run hybrid most of the time.

What about the Topcon gt-503 if you're running magnet anyway? I got that for a loaner the second time the motors failed on the ix...and it seemed to be much better. I'd actually be happy to use that robot with magnet now that I've used the s5 for a while. At least they gave extra warranty on the ultrasonic motors that fail every year.

Oh and hybrid is the best though I never used it with the sokkia.

I've texted my rep and he told me there have been issues with the motors  in the GT-500/1000 and Sokia Ix-500/1000 series due to wrong firmware. They changed this to the ix-600/1200 and have added the "smooth control" function and from that moment no motors had to be replaced

@beuckie

Hopefully that is true. We had our firmware updated to get the improved jog function when trying to sight something manually and the second motor failure happened after that. Maybe they improved it again since but my experience is that the salespeople will tell you anything to make a sale.

<font style="vertical-align: inherit;"><font style="vertical-align: inherit;">AMIGO UN PREGUNTA--TENGO UNA ESTACION TOPCON PS Y UN RC-PR4 DE SOKKIA-QUIERO SABER SI SON COMPATIBLES</font></font>

FRIEND A QUESTION–I HAVE A TOPCON PS STATION AND A SOKKIA RC-PR4-I WANT TO KNOW IF THEY ARE COMPATIBLE

I just upgraded this year from a Sokkia IX to a Carlson CRX2 (Geomax Zoom95). The tracking on the IX was the major issue as to why I upgraded. It was a huge issue for me and I found myself defaulting to two man crew for any survey did not have optimal site conditions, whereas now I am able to do so much more solo. I am very impressed with the Geomax tracking and the Powersearch is great.
