St. Louis BEERLEGGER 2013!!!! ?
Well, now is the time folks!! It's time to start planning this thing while we're in town!! 😀 :clap: :party:
We would like to do an official Beerlegger in or around the St. Louis area the first weekend that we are there. Reason being, we have no other set plans yet, and the Cardinals will not be in town yet. So...if any of you guys that are around this area can give me some tips as to where to hold it, where you guys prefer to go, who wants to show up, etc...I would very much appreciate it. :-$
I was thinking either Friday, Sept. 20th or Saturday, Sept. 21st. Heck even Sunday the 22nd would work. I just want something to work out so that we can see all of you guys that want to come that are in this area.
I'll sticky this for a few days, and then take it down and re-sticky it next week. This way I won't get too many "Angel take that stupid thread down!! It's annoying!!" threats via email. o.O
We went to StL back in May.
We stayed downtown at the Drury Inn Hotel....walk three blocks to the ballpark. There's a small dinner buffet menu in the lobby restaurant/lounge, nothing to speak of, but it's a good point to meet and hang out.
(Edit...the buffet was free to hotel guests, I don't know what they do for walk-ins.....)
The Hilton has a great rooftop bar ("360"), overlooking the stadium and the rest of downtown. (The food is of the "small plate" variety.)
A bit deeper into downtown is Charlie Gitto's, OK food, good local atmosphere, and they can accommodate a large group.
I'd say you all have to go over to "Pappy's" for B-B-Q, but if you don't hit it right, it's long lines and limited seating.
The St. Louis Chapter of Missouri Society of Professional Land Surveyors (MSPS) will be having a picnic at a local park in St. Louis County on Sept. 18. from 4-7'ish There will be numerous local surveyors there and at least three or so fellow beerleggers there. There will be food, beer and survey related games and competitions. Usually a really good time.

Well dang I want to go to that!! We land at 2:25 PM in St. Louis. After we get the car, check in, etc...maybe we can make it to that?? That would be FUN!!! I'll probably be tired as heck but...I can sleep later on. 😀
But does anyone in St. Louis still want to meet on the weekend??? :-S

This trip is a tight budget trip for us; otherwise we couldn't of done it. We're doing most of the free attractions, eating cheap, and being frugal. (Unless I hit the Powerball!!) B-)
I was going to stay close to the ball park and considered the Drury, but...most of my lodging is free so I am staying about 15 miles outside of the city. I got pretty lucky...I had a lot of free room nights that I had to use up, and had enough points on Southwest to make one of the flights free, and then I booked the other flight at 50% off, so I scored there!! Then I got the rental car with 40% off, and then another 15% off, and then booked it through my wholesale site, so I got that at a screaming deal as well. It may not be a fancy car, but...it will get us to where we need to go and that's what counts. I am using a bunch of gift cards for the other stuff. Gas, food, etc...
Heck, I even got two free Cardinal game tickets via the Cardinals, and the other game I got $10 off each ticket!! Sure they are nosebleed seats, but I don't care!! I'm just glad I'll be there. I get the Stadium tour for B1G1 free, too!! (Usually that is $10 a pop!!)
I am just sooooo happy and pleased beyond I could ever express in words that I get to go. I've waited 31 years...I think that's long enough. :party:
