Even though I'm currently not getting along with the wife, you're going to have to up the pay.

I'm not sure if I'd go down there for double that!

@duane-frymire

Agreed. Asking someone to work in adverse/extreme/remote conditions is one thing, but it's probably a good idea to offer at least what the average supervisor or manager would make in a comfortable urban setting.

Especially for a firm that pulls down somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 billion per year.

San Diego for $110,000 or Antarctica for $110,000. Hmmm, I'll have to think about that.

@lurker No where to spend it in Antarctica and won't go far in San Diego.

I wouldn't work in either location for that pay. At least not without some serious fringe benefits.

But truth be told, if the pay was solid and I had to pick one or the other, I'd go with the Antarctica job, if I could live wherever I wanted when I wasn't working at the bottom of the earth.

@williwaw

Not so sure about that. The Mac town PX aint cheap!

@jimcox Median price for a home in San Diego county is something like 850k.

@williwaw

The median for New Zealand is $944,767 pacific pesos

Which is about 17.5 years at median wage

And Auckland affordability is even worse 🙁
