It is a good idea, but not quite yet...

It took my data twice, but nothing shows up.  Win 10 PC with Firefox.

Sorry, I failed to mention that they go into a queue for me to approve. I've now approved the latest batch.

@wendell

After waiting for the approval process, I can see my location on the map.

This is very interesting and a great addition.

Thank you Wendell!

My annual support donation will be forthcoming.

Discovered New Mexico is part of the US Minor Outlying Islands.  Might want to make an adjustment.

Thanks all for testing and providing your feedback! I haven't built something quite like this before, so I'll continue refining it.

Things I need to do:

  • Make it more mobile-friendly.
  • Add a confirmation message after submitting location (so you know it went through and needs to be approved).
  • Miscellaneous map tweaks to make it easier on desktop, too.
  • Probably some other crap we haven't discovered yet. 😉

I was able to get to the enter location screen and entered the data but no change was added to the map after I hit submit

Same here but my little pencil head showed up after I exited and came back in.  Never thought I'd say that about myself...

If you get a lot more US people on the map, it might be good to reduce the plumb bob size (to half?).

I see a member name showing up on the map which seems to no longer be in the Members list.  The location seems to be that of a current member who probably changed his screen name a while back. Kinda strange.

@bill93 I'm currently looking into marker clustering, but not sure when I'll get it implemented.

It's pretty neat with just the few members shown to see the area covered by this board.  Can't wait to see more of the outside the US posters enter their locations as well.  Jim & Christ are defining the east and west extents at the moment.

The submission form has been improved immensely and put on its own page for better stability. It now provides information about the approval process, and has a confirmation message after the form is submitted to make things more clear.
