Shortly after the great blacksnake rescue of 2022, I was moving horses to a different pasture. One of these creatures is only half horse and half ass, being one of the best looking mules in the county standing almost 16 hands with long pretty eyelashes. She has no concept of personal space and never has whether it be with humans or other animals. She instinctually gets right up on you or through you. As I was standing at the fence holding her lead, she sidesteps toward me and firmly plants her back foot on my boot.... and then stops moving except for what felt like grinding it in. I was pushing and beating and cussing and after a bit got her off of my foot. I feel like the cussing was the really effective part of getting her to move. Yesterday morning, I woke up with a pinkie toe that was entirely purple and a large foothills boundary to do. You would think digging your toes in to the hillside to climb would be the most painful but in fact coming down is the worst. The next two days is mostly driving and my foot is glad for the break.
