Help with Converting Geoid File (.dat) to .GGF Format for GNSS Device
Quote from JoaoVr on August 23, 2024, 8:08 amHi everyone,
I’m new to GNSS and have been exploring my new device. I recently downloaded the Geoid model for my country from a government website, and it’s provided in a .dat format. However, my GNSS device requires the geoid file in .GGF format for proper height adjustments.
Does anyone know how I can convert the .dat geoid file into .GGF format?
Are there specific software tools or processes for this conversion?Any guidance or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

When I opened the file in Global Mapper, I was asked for projection and units information which I did not know. I just left the default choices in place and ended up with values between 45 and 57 meters and located in Portugal. If those values seem correct and the location is correct, I'll try to drop the file exported here in the reply. Because I did not know the requested input information, if you use the attached file, make sure and verify it well. It might be wise to create the file yourself based on your knowledge of the projection information.
