Hatching to polyline
Quote from carl-b-correll on July 15, 2010, 6:51 pmHey all!
I have a logo (outline of Virginia) that is basically hatching without a polyline. Or it is and entity... Sorry, I'm not sure of the difference (very utilitarian CAD user). Either way I need a polyline around this area. Can you offer me any suggestions?

Quote from D. J. Fenton on July 15, 2010, 7:00 pmWell, you know I am using Carlson with Autocad. I can use the "hatchedit" command, and it lets me recreate a hatch boundary using the hatch.
I don't know if you can do it using standalone Carlson or not.

Hatchedit will not do that with my version.
I'm staying tuned.

I am running Carlson 2010 with Autocad 2009
I have never even thought about performing this operation until Carl asked, so I never noticed it before today.

Do you have a properties box? In my properties box, if you click on the hatch, it will say it is a hatch right at the top.

Quote from carl-b-correll on July 15, 2010, 7:16 pmI think it must not do it on my version either. And it is a hatch without a polyline boundary.

Quote from just-mapit on July 15, 2010, 7:20 pmCarl,I created a hatch and erased the polyline. Then I went to draw/hatch/select objects and on the right side of the dialog box there is a command for recreating the polyline. Mine was faded out so I don't think our versions are the same. I am running 2008 Standalone. See if you can do the same and maybe your choice to pick will not be faded.

Quote from Andy Nold on July 15, 2010, 8:00 pmEdit the hatch.
Select "recreate boundary" from the hatch menu.
Your software might not have that function but seems I've been using it for several years now, and I believe it is part of basic AutoCAD.
