Forum Updates for 2020-06-11: Community Rules

It's that time again, boys and girls. Due to some recent reports and subsequent removal of forum posts that were of a racist, sexist or other discriminatory nature, I have updated the Community Rules.

Rule #1 remains the same as it always has ("Be nice.") and basically covers everything. Unfortunately, RPLS Today has found over the years that we have to be more specific. But what it all breaks down to is common sense -- if you are about to post something that could be offensive to someone else, don't post it. Period.

We don't take discrimination lightly. You will be PERMANENTLY BANNED for posting racist, sexist or other discriminatory messages. Obviously, your offending posts will be removed as well and we may even remove every post you've ever posted here.

The rule regarding posting of politics still holds true. If you want to ruin a perfectly good thread and have it removed from existence, definitely include your political message in there somewhere. Seriously, please refrain from politicizing anything, as it will get your post removed -- we might even remove the entire thread.

I've also updated some other rules related to spamming, advertising, doxxing and cross-posting. If you don't know what some or all of these terms mean, read the Community Rules. As a visiting, registered, and/or participating member of this website, you are agreeing to the Community Rules, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy. We review and update them regularly, and your continued use of this website constitutes your acceptance of these policies.

Lastly, if you find something offensive in our website, please use the reporting feature to let us know. We greatly appreciate your help and your reports are kept confidential.

The overall goal of RPLS Today is to provide a QUALITY resource of information, support and camaraderie for Land Surveyors and related professionals. We are not looking for massive quantities of users so much as we are looking for good, helpful people that support our vision to improve our beloved profession. The numbers mean nothing if they are not backed up by great people and resources.

Thank you.

Right on man.

The photos of the crying baby with the tablet are a nice touch. ????

Does the discrimination category also protect engineers who are licensed also as land surveyors from persecution?  Asking for a friend whose husband is dually licensed.

Assuming discrimination category does not apply to attorneys and corrupt real estate people.  Good real estate people are wonderful.

@holy-cow

Tell your friend real engineers only have the one license.  She needs to find a real engineer to post on here the discriminatory variables we should strive to avoid:)

Hoped you might catch that, Duane.  😉 😉
