I ordered a Trimble R750 receiver on April 27. Nothing so far, not even an estimated date. I kind of understand this, due to the supposed chip shortage. I also heard that R12i's are delayed until well into next year.?ÿ
On May 2 I ordered 4 Trimble Monitoring prisms. I wanted them before we started our yearly dam monitoring program.?ÿStill have not gotten those, and they have no idea when they will come in. In the middle of June they said first week of July. This I don't get at all, there are no chips, no electronics. WTF. Does anyone know if other dealers might have these??ÿ?ÿ
The logistics log-jam may still be the cargo ships anchored off shore due to a lack of truck drivers to haul all of the containers.?ÿ I haven't seen anything on the news, just speculating.
I've heard that there are ships sitting in the water, just outside of ports, full of goods but can't get to dock for undisclosed reasons. It's affecting everything from baby formula to vehicle parts.
Everything is correct.?ÿ A friend of mine is an almost-daily customer at a NAPA Auto Parts center.?ÿ They are running out of anything they can actually sell.?ÿ Quite a bit of stuff they have sold in the past year has been returned on warranty because whatever it is has already failed (see my truck brake master cylinder story).?ÿ Cheap %$#$ from China/Taiwan/Korea/Etc.?ÿ My friend's buddy that works for NAPA took him to their back-back room and pointed to a pile of %$#$ that would fill two of my grain trucks to the top.?ÿ All of that is supposed to be returned to the manufacturer.
So, even if you finally receive something, it may not measure up to the standards to which you have become accustomed.
I guess this is the price you pay for sending your manufacturing elsewhere...
I just got off the phone with an equipment place where I ordered a variety of things.?ÿ The entire order is being held up by a 25 foot level rod I had in my cart.?ÿ I picked a rod that has both 10ths and metric on it because the same rod without metric was like 2 dollars less.?ÿ Anyway, turns out they don't actually have the rod in stock.?ÿ I don't mind that they're out of stock but it's kind of dumb to at least not say so on their website.
@bstrand everytime my wife says get X at Lowes...I saw it on their website...I have to explain even if they say they have it there's a good chance they don't have it.?ÿ Really hard to get that concept across for some reason.?ÿ All these company's websites lie.
Just got a new work tool, website says how easy everything is, greatest thing since sliced bread blah blah blah.?ÿ The instructions don't work.?ÿ Submit support tickets into the ether, nothing, no phone number.?ÿ Told my boss this morning on the phone, don't buy anything that doesn't have a person with a name and phone number selling it, nothing, no matter how great it supposedly is.
A bit more on the brake master cylinder.?ÿ Bench tested it before installing.?ÿ Checked fine.?ÿ Installed it.?ÿ Filled with brake fluid.?ÿ Bled the lines.?ÿ Topped off brake fluid.?ÿ About an hour later I was looking under the hood for another reason, took a look at the pretty new equipment and see a drop of brake fluid drip off the bottom.?ÿ About 30 seconds later another drop.?ÿ Another 30 seconds, another drop.?ÿ We wipe very clean to watch closely for appearance of fluid.?ÿ It is coming from the little plug on the front side of the box.?ÿ It took a bit to solve, but, what had happened is that the threads on the plug didn't match the threads in the box.?ÿ SAE vs Metric.?ÿ Why, why, why would it come from the factory with the wrong threads on the plug?
Just about to return a call to a client from not too long ago.?ÿ He now needs to get an easement across his in-laws to access their water meter because there are not water meters to install service at the property I just cut out for him a couple months ago.?ÿ Looked it up and apparently that is another thing that is running short.
We ordered a new KIP color printer and now we find out delivery in late October and probably later.?ÿ Agree, manufacturing offshore is a huge part of the problem.?ÿ The other factor is the lackadaisical attitude of those selling and manufacturing in our workforce.?ÿ New definition of 'long covid'.
More importantly than survey equipment, the outboard motor that I ordered in October has yet to arrive.?ÿ
An acquaintance of mine just ordered an EV from Germany, "estimated" delivery date November 2023. ?????ÿ

We just bought a new Subaru Forrester.?ÿ They only had two on the lot and (surprise) they were the top trim package with options that jumped the base price up $12K.?ÿ But...at least they weren't charging "market availability" surcharges. Jeep dealers around here are adding $4K to the MSRP, Honda the same, and I saw a KIA marked up $6K.?ÿ Apparently Subaru won't allow their dealers to sell above the MSRP.
I told one salesman "I really don't see why I should have to pay extra to make up for your failure to build redundancy into your supply lines."
Yeah, ridiculous.
When I was looking at trucks last year the Toyota guys said I'd have to pay a $1000 deposit to get on the list to get a Tundra.?ÿ I was like pffffffffffffffft, you can keep it.
It's really affected shooting supplies around here something fierce. For a while no one could get factory shells to run leagues. Now we can get them, kind of. But they aren't what we would prefer. I ordered primers June 20 and they said they had them in stock. Today the order is still packing. In other words they didn't have them to begin with.
For a month or so I couldn't find the dog food my lab likes. Now its all over the place. It seems sometimes they have stuff and sometimes they don't, then they do. I feel sorry the shelf stockers and such getting yelled at cause the shopper can't find what they want. It ain't the stocker's fault. Very frustrating. Now I find myself buying stuff I don't need just because its there now.

Same here.?ÿ It's not really hoarding if they have tons of it, right
