Hi guys

I have a Trimble S7 and a TSC3. I bought them from a supplier called Korec who supplies a total care package that covers maintenance and repairs.

The maintenance package is no longer available on the TSC3, however, they want to sell me a software maintenance package for Trimble Access.

The downside to not buying the software maintainance package is that;"Cost to reinstate software is higher once over 90 days and then more
over 12 months expired. Sometimes there are compatibility issues on out
of date software and you would not received the new releases and some
bug fixes extra"

Do other have a software maintainance package for Trible Access for TSC3s?

I'd be skeptical. There hasn't been an update to Access 2017 for 5+ years, since that version is all but deprecated. Especially since the TSC3 is technically no longer supported, if I remember correctly.

It might be worthwhile to keep the software maintenance if you are planning on upgrading to a TSC5/7 sometime in the very near future, and the dealer is willing to roll that software entitlement over to the newest version of Access 2020+. Could save you a few thousand bucks.

But I'd want to clarify that if I had the maintenance agreement and upgraded my controller, I wouldn't have to pay for a new version of Access.

@Rover83 is correct

The TSC3 is 'end-of-life'. You can't buy them anymore.

They will run Access-2017, but nothing newer. There is no intention to make a new version of Access for them.

The software maintenance usually entitles you to any new software released in year - there wont be any for the TSC3.

Some agreements cover physical damage to the controller. What would happen if your TSC3 went under a bulldozer? Do you get an automatic upgrade to TSC5 and the latest Access? That might be worth having.

The TSC3 does not support the newer GNSS receivers - particularly those with an IMU. Are you thinking of getting a nice new R12i? You will need a new controller. Maybe your maintenance might let you do some sort of trade-in deal and transfer your licence.

I'd be asking the dealer to prove the value before I spent any $$$

What’s your reasoning for this purchase? The highest software you could get on TSC3 is 2017.32 I think. Which version of Access do you have now?
