I have stared at some tattoos for too long simply attempting to figure out what I am looking at.?ÿ That wasn't a problem in one case.?ÿ The left arm of a fellow who was making my sandwich in a little diner had what I assumed was his name in block letters about two inches square with a great deal of solid sections running down towards his wrist.
That reminds me of a tale I made up one Summer when Calvin Klein products were selling like hotcakes.?ÿ I claimed that company had entered the condom business and every condom was imprinted with Calvin Aloysius Klein the XVIIIth, Incorporated.?ÿ I then asserted those were the only ones I would buy.?ÿ An intelligent- behind at the table immediately started calling me Cal.?ÿ Karma finally got him.?ÿ He spent a couple years in jail for attempting to burn down his own house for the insurance money.
@norman-oklahoma guilty here. One is now covered by something representing my 3 kids

Band members (all over 50) were in a brewpub ordering lunch when I noticed our waitress had a tattoo on her forearm of one those things which were used in a 45rpm record to play it on a standard turntable. I asked her what it was and she said it is a Chinese symbol which meant something, but she couldn't remember what. I guess I'm getting old, I remember when an asterisk was an asterisk, not a "star thingie".
?ÿ
That's simply perfect.?ÿ So desperate to get something meaningful that she actually got something meaningless.?ÿ Ha
So desperate to get something meaningful that she actually got something meaningless.
You describe nearly every moment of my ??thinking? life. ?ÿI think I do more thinking about life than simply living life. ?ÿThis feels appropriate for this particular thread. ?ÿWe all have different perspectives, don??t we?
Not specifically surveying but I've been kicking around an idea for a new tattoo for a couple of years and I think this wood block print best captures the essence of it. Years ago when I first came to Alaska I worked on fishing boats out in Aleutians and was mesmerized by albatross that no matter how hard the winds were blowing or seas stormy, seemed to so gracefully and effortlessly soar above and through all of it. This tattoo I hope would maybe celebrate and capture some of their 'Mana'.?ÿ

Great idea! Thanks for sharing.?ÿ
Not that it matters but I think that would make a great tattoo. Good line work that I think would transfer pretty well. When you do it, please share, I'd like to see the finished drawing.
I just had this one tat done and I wasn??t too happy with it.
I'm having a beer so I asked a couple of the young ladies behind the bar if they'd like to see me with a tattoo or naked. I'm getting a tattoo.
I've thought about it but decided it's not for me.
I changed my mind and got one to celebrate the beginning of my 8th decade.
Very cool! Glad you changed your mind.
I recently added to my tattoo collection (though not surveying related). Line work was completed at the end of March. I'll go back later this year to do the shading/color.
I'll try and get a photo now that it's mostly set in.
Thanks.
I called and got an appointment 2 days later. After about 10 minutes he commented that my skin sucked up the ink. I’m a little disappointed that he didn’t take that into consideration and got the cardinal directions crowded. My oldest son goes to a lady who is booked 4 months out. Comparing his tattoos to mine I know why.
My personal theory with regard to tattoos, piercings and such is that I am simply too beautiful the way Darwin evolved me to want to sully things up.
When I think of what I might have had tattooed on me 10 or 20 years ago, it is enough to kill any thought of having something tattooed on me today. It's a lovely picture. Get it on canvas and hang it on the wall.
Two cannibals were eating a Clown. One says to the other... “Does this guy taste funny to you?”
