Hello,
This is my first post on here. I have a Sokkia SRX robot and have been using a RC-PR4 to control it (also using an Allegro MX as collector). Recently the RC unit seems to miss catching the SRX with the wide beam, and the robot just spins. I will tap the RC unit and try again, or power off and on and it will work fine. This is probably the beginning of the end for the RCPR4, though, as it has had its internal motor replaced once, and is about 6 or 7 years old. I just got a great deal on a Topcon RC5. (it looks exactly like the sokkia RCPR4) Is there a way to connect the 2. I can get the instrument to recognize the Topcon as a bluetooth device, and I can get the Allegro to recognize the Topcon, but cannot get the Topcon RC5 to control the SRX robot. Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!

Guy

Did you try to pair the SRX Robot to the RC5. Try using the robot bluetooth options to do this. Not on the DC.

The Topcon PS is made by Sokkia, so it should work.

We had a rental PR5 for our SRX while our PR3 was being repaired. It worked 100% but our sales rep did the connection.

Yes it will work. Get the instructions from dealer. There is a special two key sequence when booting the Robot to enter Bluetooth setup. You will need to unpair you old RC unit, then pair the new.

Maybe @pmoran from Topcon/Sokkia can help with instructions.

For my sokkia RC5 which i assume to be the same. You got to hold the search and on at the same time for the RC5 to search and connect to new TS.

The PR4 spinning round and round could be some gyro not aligned in it. Had that problem and sent back to workshop and they had a special tool to adjust it back.

Pairing the RC-5 with the robot is as described above, but I power up the RC-5 while holding the Search button down. When it comes on, release both. The instrument just needs to be in normal measure mode. The instrument light on the RC-5 will blink until the connection is established, at which point, the RC-5 will give 3 (I think) short beeps. Press the Far button to complete the pairing, which will cause the RC-5 to shut down. The indication on the instrument is that the antenna on the instrument will now be erect instead of pointing down to the side. Once this pairing has been done, the RC-5 and the total station should link up automatically.

You may also want to go through the communications configuration on the instrument and have it add the RC-5 to your paired devices on the gun. The instrument will need to function in "Slave" mode.

One other thing I will mention, you may want to remove the RC handle from the total station and clean the contacts with something like a white eraser. This may help restore functionality on your RC-4 unit. And the RC-5 you have will not work properly either if this is needed.
