A friend was having difficulty, and wasn??t sure how long a rod was, so he asked me.
I said, ??well I don??t remember how long a rod is in feet.?
??really??
??all I can remember is it??s 1/4 chain.??ÿ
And then his head exploded. We were talking about questions on the test we had both just sat for. I think he got it wrong. 15 ft isn??t ??close enough??.
so, are HectoPascals really just mb? And what??s up with mmHg? My T2 is Mils, and I like it.?ÿI??m happy that Celsius and centigrade are both just C.
microns are now micrometers??ÿ
I always considered the word "vara" to be a variation of the term variable, and a close cousin to "it depends."
😎
Thank the french for this also.?ÿ See how many units you can find in this is one recording.
?ÿ
how many ft?
43,560
True, but how many silly people have assumed a square acre is some very basic distance along each side. Somehow, 208.71 feet just doesn't roll off the tongue like 330 or 660 or even 220.
Miner's Inch
Another "variable" unit that I run into from time to time, although rarely an issue.
miner's inch is common in the Sierra foothills for ditch water which is not drinking water, irrigation only.
of course I know the sq footage.
it worth remembering that it’s 10 sq ch.
just like 80 sq ch in a section.
Yupper yupper.
Most of my career was spent in Mining Districts in the Western US, and references to the Miner's Inch were common in many of the documents of record.
just like 80 sq ch in a section.
80 ch square is not the same as 80 sq chains.
