Hello.?ÿ
After many years with tsc2, I am thinking of buying a new Windows tablet, probably Panasonic, and transferring my access license there.?ÿ
Today I install Trimble access?ÿ 2022.10 on my pc which has windows 11. I get a 30-day trial to see what is new.
I initially tried to connect my Trimble VX with Bluetooth. Firstly from windows 11 settings that weren't possible because you cannot pair a device without a passkey. Trimble VX has not a passkey.
After searching I discover that you can pair a device without a passkey if you try from the old control panel - add a device.
The VX works without any problem.

Then I tried to connect one of my Trimble R8 model 2.?ÿ ?ÿI use the same route and I paired it with my pc. What was not the same as that windows saw this device as unspecified. When pairing they recognize the name of the device but in control panel menu still shows this device as unspecified. Vx is categorized as a device.?ÿ

In Trimble access, I can select the r8 model 2 as a GNSS connection

But trying to start a GNSS survey the r8 is not able to connect. If I watch windows Bluetooth connections the R8 connected ab disconnected repeatably.
In Trimble access, I get a Bluetooth error 10051.

Any thoughts that could cause that problem?
I tried with another R8 model 2 same behavior.

Thank you.

?ÿ

I am thinking its the older Bluetooth version of r8. Vs newer windows 11 possibly. I have never tried hooking up to a computer. I might can get my hands on a r8 and try and figure it out . ?ÿHave you contacted the local dealer?ÿ

Probably as OldManRiver said. We had the same troubles connecting an older R6-2 to TA2020 on a TSC7.

We could at best measure and store 1 point, after that bluetooth connection was lost. We traded in the R6-2 for a newer used R4 at that moment.

I just checked the Release notes for TA2022.10 and the R8 (and R6) are listed as supported though!

Try a hard reset on the receiver. And possibly hook it up and re winflash it and remove any error log files etc. Then give it a try again to see if that helps. Sometimes it just gets all hung up and grumpy and needs a good reBOOT. ?ÿLol

I recently picked up 4 R8-2 receivers. I used a combination of tips from this site and our vendor. We are able to run static sessions with our TSC5 without an issue. I'll use winflash or the old configuration tool to start them cooking on power-up. I have a TSC2 and a few TSC5's to download with.

One glitch I had was fixed by letting the units cook outside for a bit. They had been turned off for about six years...

yes, they support R8 model 2. In Trimble forums, they said to connect via cable.

the problem is not access but the connection with windows. A friend of mine has a tsc5 which runs on android with the latest version of access and we can connect the receiver with that and measure with no problems.

Do you know where I could find the old configuration tool?

I just bought an old Bluetooth 2 adapter but I have the same exact problem. I think it's windows which cause the problem.

The new layout of Trimble.com makes is a little dificult to find but the downloads for the discontinued instruments are still there, at least the links, I did not try to download anything.

@nikoue contact me at the address in my profile and I'll send it to you. It will take me a few days as the spouse and I have picked up a nasty bug.

Ever have any luck with this?  I have an opportunity to grab a TSC7, but only have a few R8-2s right now.  Did you get yours going?
