Tackled three jobs today strung over about 35 miles.?ÿ At the second job we took a few minutes to chat with the client.?ÿ I had officially met him for the first time yesterday but had known of him for four decades as he is well known by horse people across the country.?ÿ Worked with his sister for several years back in the 1980's,?ÿ Used to chat with his father at the local cattle auction barn.?ÿ Knew his uncle and two cousins very well.?ÿ As we talked about his family he happened to mention his mother (who I met a few times years ago) and told me her maiden name.?ÿ That started a separate conversation as I knew several family members in that branch of his family...........................including my third job of the day which turned out to be about a second cousin of his and who carries that surname.?ÿ That job was about ten miles away.?ÿ While working on it the client showed up.?ÿ Once we got all the formalities out of the way on exactly how to do the final plan I mentioned where I had been earlier in the day.?ÿ Her comment was, "Did you know he is one of my cousins?"?ÿ That was odd.
At that third job I absolutely had to ask the client the question that had been bugging me.?ÿ Pointing down the hill to what appeared to be the back side of a tombstone, I asked, "Is that a real tombstone?"?ÿ She said yes and no.?ÿ It was the military tombstone her grandfather had received for his service in WWII.?ÿ He was cremated so they buried his ashes next to it.?ÿ As it worked out Grandpa is going to be on the tract that will soon be for sale, not the tract that she is keeping.?ÿ I guess I should have asked her where Grandma was.
