Coming from Carlson wanting to learn Magnet Field. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
1. How do I import or export only a range of points?
2. Can I use a control file in Magnet as I do in Carlson SurvCE? I haven't been able to do this.

By the questions you have asked it appears that you already know what there is to know about Magnet Field.
1. Export/to file/data-points (check use filters) / next / Filter by range
2. Cant answer not knowing how Carlson control file is used.
1) Exchange >To File
2) Not possible in current version 7.3.1. However this exact question was asked a month ago and someone from Topcon piped in and said it is coming in next version which should be 8.0 soon.
That will teach me to use one of the old free desktop version. Why they would drop that function is a curiosity.
@norm I have used control files with Leica and carlson. The advantage I have found in magnet is that you can shoot the same point multiple times and “store as check point”. This option is very powerful if you do least squares adjustments. I imagine this function would be lost with a control file.
We've used that store as check point option a lot. We like it too. We used to assign a new name to every check point. I believe when the option is not used and the same name is used it averages all observations.
@norm yes I believe you can even establish a weighted average. I’ll give the control file thing a try when they roll it out. It could work well on my construction jobs where the control was established by others and I’m never doing an adjustment on it.
I never could get an answer from Topcon on how the weighted average works so we did our own. I could never get exactly the same answer as Magnet although most would consider the difference irrelevant. I just prefer knowing what's happening. I believe if you tag your points as control they won't change. I've been wrong before. Easily tested though.
If I recall correctly Magnet Field changes the first coordinate record of the first observation in the raw file to the result of the weighted average. This irritated me because to me raw is raw, not cooked.
Almost too simple to answer, as the answer is in the name, weighted average. No it does not change the raw data, nor the first measurement in the set You need to understand Magnet Field is a true Access database. All data in one file. This way you preserve the raw while having the computed data. You see all the weighted measurements in raw. The user can toggle on or off which measurement to use in the solution. Only the solution is exported in coordinate list. While all measurements can be exported in raw format, then utilized in a LeastSquares adjustment with StarNet or Magnet Office Tools.
Almost too simple to answer
That unfortunate attitude is probably the reason I never received a response. The difference I saw is not important but I do know what I saw. It was validated and repeatable. Perhaps it doesn't behave that way anymore. I now operate RTK on my cell phone using a free app and do my averaging and error estimates on a spreadsheet so I could really care less about Magnet and its future.

Sounds very cool,
A couple of quick questions then:
What antenna do you use?
L1 signal only, or have you L2 also?
I'm presuming multi-constellation - yes?
Can you generate Rinex data?
Thankx

free app
Name of app please.
I'm not here to promote what I use. I'm semi to fully retired and use it sparingly as a rover on a free RTK network and/or static survey. I might or might not use something else on a regular basis depending on my work. That said, for years my job was to manage, investigate, evaluate and purchase millions of dollars of GNSS software and equipment and what I use now as a hobbyist works for me.
I will answer the questions asked:
The app is Emlid Flow standard free edition.
If I were purchasing a GNSS antenna I would choose one that is calibrated such as this
It receives all the GNSS signals out there. I usually have 30 or more birds.
The static files export to rinex.
The network rover I use was put together for less than 1k.
I'm not here to promote what I use.
Sorry I asked. Natural curiosity on my part.
