it just turned up on site, no manual guidance or anything. I've got it mostly sussed just a few questions I could use help on.
1. when I do set up and have it track my prism, then set on it it doesn't give any indication of set up accuracy/error. can I view this?
2. typically I used Road 2D on my old ts, as virtually all my road setting out info is just a centre line, and I'd just use that to offset left/right. can I do this at all on a viva? the road pr9gram didn't seem to offer this functionality.
I did a resection and it gave me the accuracy tolerances. I think I found the off set program for left/right staking though it is somewhat more complicated than my old one.
additionally, how does using levels on stations work? if I assign two levels to my setup and back sight, will it accurate calculate further surveyed points heights as long as the pole height is constant?

Roads is an option on Viva I think. even Roads 2D is on Flexline I think.
If you have the roads option then it should be able to do anything that roads 2D can.
Yeah, I've had a sit down and got into that with the controller this morning in a bit of down time. I've created a poly line for the next 250m of road, which I believe I can offset.
another question relates to the codes, is there any sort of online database of them people have Shared? I'd like to find some sort of script that can offset a house by contracting it to move from brickwork to centre lines for dig

Not that experienced with Viva but I think the best way to do it is to stake segment with an olffset. I would stake a paint without offset first so that I could see on the ground that I was offsetting in the right direction.
the problem with that is it'd only work for straights, on curves I'll only have chainage co-ords for beginning and end with a radius size (No centre co-ords to manually swing it), so I need a road program to do it efficiently.
I've activated the 180 day roads trial and created the poly line so I'll give it a test after dinner.
Is the desing available as dxf?
No option to stake arcs from the dxf? that should only be 2d I guess.
Chr.
I don't have access to any cad files. all I have is a list of centre line Co ordinates and info on if it's a straight or radius (and radius size). an incomplete list at that, the main contractor is utterly shambolic.
I attempted to set out the road offsets (using ones I had done with the old kit as a check) but can't work out how. I found a toggle right/left offsets button but can't work out what it does/how to toggle. there is now clear indication/separation from inputting info and performing the stake out. totally at a loss.
I think you can "measure to" an arc in the same way(s) as staking a line. It's within "survey+" I think. It may be disabled on the CS10 basic version of Viva though.
If it is a polyline you can use the "segment" method to pick out the segment you are interested in.
The lines and arcs can be create using COGO. I think it's called "line/arc solutions"
yeah I've managed to create a line of the road, just can't manage left right offsets
In our road module we have to create alignment and profile seperately from points. Then save, then open and stake.
We can't just create polylines.
