Back last fall I got an email from one of the ALTA outfits that had a recent survey of the subject property.?ÿ I looked it over a few minutes and what caught my eye was the survey had a square seal on it.?ÿ I called a friend that's on the state surveyor's board to ask him if our state allowed a square seal.?ÿ He responded in the negative and I told him about what I had in front of me.?ÿ He was going to call the surveyor to give him a friendly heads up that a square seal was not allowed.
Well, as they say, this is where the excrement hit the propulsion device.
He called the company and was told the surveyor didn't work there.?ÿ He asked for a number where he could be reached and they gave him one.?ÿ He called and told the surveyor what was up, and the surveyor told him that he had not worked there for about a year prior to the date on the survey.
It appears the the owner of the company got a license sometime after the survey in question.
Well, someone filed a complaint with the board.?ÿ The board issued a consent order to revoke the license of the owner of the company and fine him $15,000.?ÿ There are other steps to make this punishment official, so it could be less severe.
The ONLY reason any of this happened is when they forged the stamp, they used a square instead of a circle.?ÿ If they had used a circle, no one would have thought twice about it.
Thanks for the heads up. We'll be sure to use the round one.... (????)
Ps Seriously, have we really got to take advantage of surveyors, in this crazy world?
That's a crazy event.
Too many crooks, not enough integrity.?ÿ

Hey.?ÿ I could send him a Tennessee stamp that's only been used once.?ÿ Of course it has been lapsed for 10 years but it IS round.

Ran into a situation where an elderly surveyor working at an engineering firm recorded a survey in the months after he'd died.?ÿ I contacted the firm and was told it was legit because he'd been in responsible charge of the survey.?ÿ I questioned how his seal and signature could be dated after his DOD and was told to mind my own business in no uncertain terms.?ÿ That kinda pissed me off so I filed a Board complaint with supporting documentation.?ÿ Didn't hear word back from the Board until six months later when reading the disciplinary actions section of the Board Bulletin and surprise, they'd filed/recorded a half dozen other surveys after his DOD and suffered severe penalties. Sometimes Karma's a bitch.
Any bets on how many times the owner had to take the exam. ?ÿI doubt he passed the 1st time. ?ÿLOL

The rotangle might be useful in a woodshop?ÿ
It has been over 35 years since I last saw an electric eraser.?ÿ Had to stare for awhile before recognizing them.
I messed up a good monitor, with an electric eraser, when I first got AutoCad.
(Grin)
N
Yeah, and it's not covered by the monitor warranty!!

BTW, Nate, you are a sly dog with that telephone story.
@andy-bruner I still have my OR one, it??s square and has also lapsed for about ten or so years.
@bill93 how do those lettering templates work? There??s no way for the pen or pencil to reach the underlying medium. ?????ÿ
