Just wondering if anyone is using the Geomax Zenith 35 GPS system to collect static data and then send to OPUS for processing. I am looking for some type of work flow from getting the data to store in the Base and then downloading that and sending it to OPUS. Any help would be appreciated.
Hopefully someone will be along with a solution to your question but would be interested to know your experience with the gear (was asked recently on here and not a lot of response).?ÿ Have you used other brands you can compare against? Quality/robustness of solutions received??ÿ Radio coverage? Cost/value for money? Battery life? Software your using with it? Any other quirks? Be good to know for those who were asking.
I previously used Trimble and when I started my own business I chose this brand because of the affordability and strong reviews from two different dealers. I have been using for about 2.5 years now and for the most part get high quality signals. The only time I have issues is in heavy tree cover but that would probably be expected from most systems. I am usually within a mile of the base but have gone out to about 1.5 miles and still had good signals. The system came with 2 batteries for the base and the rover. Each one will usually last about 5-6 hours. I use the Carlson 2 data collector with Carlso Survce. I am a solo operator so it gets daily use in a wide variety of conditions. I have not experienced any issues. System is worth the investment. Please feel free to ask any other questions you might have
What is the difference in the zenith 35 and the zenith 35 pro and leica gs16
I am not sure of the difference
?ÿ
?ÿ
Between the 35 and 35 pro I thought was to do with the TAG (tilt functionality).?ÿ
Appears the chip in the Zenith35 & GS16's is very similar if not the same based on specs but unsure if they both use the same measurement engine from Novatel or if they both develop their own? Looks very much little Geomax is the little brother to Leica who pinches anything they can when big brother isn't looking and Hexagon (Mum and Dad) keep telling them to be kind to their sibling.?ÿ Think the bigger differences are in the software, Captivate appears more surveyor focused, X-pad is a bit more cut down.?ÿ You can use Carlson but from what I've seen its not as powerful as Captivate with Leica or Access with Trimble (not seen Magnet but assume its the same with Topcon/Sokkia).
Are you using GPS/GLO only or adding in GAL and/or BDU??ÿ Does it have to have GPS in the fix or can you just fix with BDU/GAL etc?
I am in need of the same information. I have the Geomax 35 and it works well. I use it as a rover.?ÿ
Am working in a remote site and want to use static to get locations accurate.
So if you learned anything in your pursuit of the sequence to use the machine to perform static and send info
to OPUS, please let me know.

Thanks

@hpalmer the zenith 35 has 120 channels and is more comparable to the original GS15,the zenith 35 pro has 555 channels and is on par with the GS18, Im not exactly what other differences the GS18 and the zenith 35 pro has.I am loving my zenith 35 pro it out performs my R8-S(which is fully scaled),my only gripe is the build quality,it seems that if you dropped it just the right way it would bust ,but i suppose there has to be a trade off with the price being cheaper.
