One of the previous posts mentioned filing fees and that got me to wondering what you guys charge to file a single plat.?ÿ

In Georgia a single filing is done electronically by PDF or TIFF and it cost $8 plus a few counties have a small tax, maybe $0.25 per plat. We can file any size for the same cost.

I charge $25 but have been thinking that it is low considering the fact that it is a service most folks don't know how to do.

What say you, is $25 a good markup for a $8 cost?

SD we pay 60 plus 10 for each lot created. Ive always charged it as an expense, no markup. Here it takes a day sometimes more to chase down all of the signatures on the plat so I offer client our admin assistant being the cheapest hourly rate,?ÿ it most of the time the client finishes the signatures and filing.

I usually have the client pay those fees directly.

Yeah....I'm not inquiring about chasing down signatures as that can take quite a bit of time. I have not done a large subdivision for quite a while but for a single recorded survey it is $8 and I charge $25. It does not take much time but it is still a service provided that I feel should be compensated for and I don't know if I am charging enough. I will likely bump it up to $30.

Filing fees in Idaho are ridiculously cheap. A ROS is $5 per page and a plat is $11 for the most part.?ÿ The fee is not an issue, its the hours spent plotting duplicate mylars (in the case of the plat), spraying mylars and then ultimately recording them.?ÿ?ÿ

Set up your contracts as lump sum, it's our preferred method.

I charge $250 to record a plat.?ÿ The county fees are $21, my time and liability have a cost attached to them. If we are talking a subdivision I pass those costs along to the client.?ÿ

Standard or legal is $21 for first page plus $17 for each additional page. ?ÿ11 x 17 is $38. ?ÿCan be $150 and up for full size plats. ?ÿThen there may be a reviewer's fee but that is less than $50 everywhere I go. ?ÿSeveral are at no charge. ?ÿThe hassle gets added into the invoice for time required.

Washington County went to $435 last July. Multnomah and Clackamas are still $400.

Holy cow,?ÿ now that is what I'm talking about. I guess if you can get it by all means do it. Are you talking about any old single lot plat??ÿ

And I was sorta feeling a like $30 might be a stretch but maybe I will go to $50. This is a service that very few know how to do so why not charge for it.

To answer my own question I had decided to raise it to $30 but will likely raise my own filing fee to $50 and be done with it.?ÿ

$50 for a single sheet recording.?ÿ

More to it in some places judging by the posts.?ÿ But around here it takes 15 minutes to half hour getting cursory review in map room, then wait in line and get filed at clerk's window.?ÿ Attorneys charge $50, town clerks charge around $50 and file it if subdivision usually.?ÿ So $50 is about going rate and reasonable compensation for my time.?ÿ I also charge the filing fee whatever it is $10-$20 usually. No separate charge for the review around here; they just look to make sure it's stamped/signed and on acceptable size/type of sheet, planning board stamps if subdivision.
