I have a TSC2 that was purchased from an international user. When I create a new project and assign a coordinate system it only gives me systems in Europe, no State Plane.. not even a UTM option. Does anyone know where these settings are saved on the controller? I've tried wiping out the Access install and re-installing, but the limited coordinate systems persist.. didn't fix it. I'm guessing there is some config file on it that I need to replace.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Look for a file in Trimble DataSystem Files called and custom.csd; if it's there delete it (I'd back it up first then delete it from the collector). Re-boot the collector and see what's there.
That did it, thanks a ton Lee!
Any time.
Hello gentlemen,
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have a very similar issue: bought a TSC2 with Access from someone out of state, and think I am missing some sort of local configuration files. Although my local state plane system is listed, it doesn't come into a GNSS survey- no grid coordinates are displayed or stored, and I am not able to inverse between points, etc.. It also just specifies NAD83, with no designation of the 2011 adjustment or other.
Just to keep the ball rolling on some simpler GPS surveys, I have been exporting coordinates as lat/long and converting to state plane in the office. Of course I would prefer to just have the collector display and store state plane in the field, so I can have full IS functionality without a trip to the computer.
The geoid file is also a similar issue, it looks like the *.ggf that the previous owner has loaded up seems to cover a different zone, so I am only able to store ellipsoid heights in a GNSS survey, then convert to orthometric heights in the office. Doing some quick research, I found the *.ggf geoid file for all of North America, but its pretty big, and it looks like I need Trimble Business center or something to clip my zone out of that file and upload it to Access..
That being said, I looked for a *.csd file as Lee D mentioned, but there is nothing with that extension. I have to admit, I am just piecing this Trimble kit together recently on a limited budget, and do not have Business Center or any other Trimble software besides the Access that came with the TSC2. Is there a way to get all of this put together for my Florida zones without having to spring for a bunch of software packages?
I welcome any good pointers for a trimble NEWB!
Cheers,
W
It sounds like your issue is the missing ggf geoid file. If you had a geoid that covers your area the coordinate conversion would work. I could create a subgrid for you if you specify the geoid model and area you need.
You may also find the info and software you need here

I just saw this but if you need a subgrid of Florida I can make you one. The CONUS files are 32MB but we run them on TSC2s it's not a big deal.
I would recommend running Trimble Installation Manager to make sure you have the latest version of Access that you're eligible for; if it updates that should fix any issues you're having with coordinates.
Thank you for the responses!
So I followed the link that @squowse posted (thank you), and I have downloaded the Trimble Grid Factory software and made subgrids for a couple of Geoids in my area. I will upload these to the TSC2 later today and see how that works out. If it does not, then maybe I will try uploading the Full CONUS ggf, or maybe I will take you up on your offer for a subgrid! I will post the outcome either way..
@Lee D , regarding updating access, All I have is a perpetual license for access and its various applications, but do not have a subscription to Trimble for updates. It sounds like I would need to subscribe in order to update my version of Access (v 2015.10). While I do like the idea of having a backup of the software so I can reinstall in case something happens to the data collector, I am trying to keep the software costs down. Is there a way to re-install the software clean, without losing the licensing information for my controller? does the Trimble Installation manager on the PC save the licensing info?
thanks again for the help everyone!
W
Trimble saves the license on a license server that Trimble Installation Manager checks when you run it with the data collector connected. No backup of the software is needed; if you had to wipe the data collector clean for some reason TIM would automatically install the latest version that you're eligible for.
2015.10 isn't that old, they're on 2015.22. You can check your software warranty date by pushing the Trimble button or tapping the Trimble icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen and selecting About.
All,
I just uploaded the clipped subgrid *.ggf file to Access, referenced it in my survey styles, and everything is up and running nicely. Grid coordinates engaged!
Thanks for your help,

 Plenty of good trimble knowledge here on this board (Just as well)
Hi everyone! anyone has an idea where can i found the datum file for Asia specifically Philippines to be install in my TSC3 access?
I think you need to be more specific and state the projection and geoid you are wishing to use. Chances are they are in the coordinate system manager that is packaged with TBC. So if you can specify which ones then someone might be able to help you out. Unless you already have Trimble Business Center?

Have you tried just working in UTM zone 51 referenced to wgs84 and estimating MSL with EGM08?
