A colleague of mine has a controller with SurvCE. I was wondering, in instances where we work together in the field, can i work with Survey Pro/Trimble Access on my main controller and then export the job and send it to his controller so he can perform additional tasks (field-to-finish/quality control/etc)
Ideally Is it even possible to tunnel the project and provide some kind of live feed without having to export the project every once in a while
Also what format is best to export for use with Carlson?
Since Carlson (or any other company outside trimble) cannot connect to trimble equipment directly, i thought why not at least perform secondary tasks and help out in whichever way possible
Still looking into this if anyones got something
SurvCEuses a .CRD, interchangable with Carlson Survey office. SP will use either a .Survey or .Job depending on version. The easiest way in the filed would be to use RAW files. SurvCE produces a .RW5 & SP a .RAW. If you change the extension name the other can open & read it as the formats are the same save the extension name. Seems reasonable you could export the raw to a thumb drive from one, import it to the other and use File explorer to change extension and go.
SurvCE does have the Carlson Cloud which is great, as long as you have a MiFi you can send data (any files) to any other field user with SurvCE or back & forth to the office if there is Carlson Survey running there.
How do you import raw? These are all the options i get. Also tds cr5 seems like a common denominator but i dont know where it includes linework projection parameters and rest project info
How do you import raw?
The types of raw files that SurvCE/SurvPC can process at the current time are *.RW5, *.TLV and/or *.PRJ file types (explore the File tab -- Raw Data -- [Type]). The Edit/Process Raw Data command found in Carlson Survey does offer an Import routine that has a more extensive library of raw file data types that can then be subsequently saved to the RW5 format for use in SurvCE/SurvPC.
I hope this information helps.
This is a huge help but i tried it in carlson and the process gps tab was greyed out. I tried process no adjust but it was a TS menu it seems and no point was imported. Any thoughts
If you'd care to send me your source raw file that came from SurveyPro (lnelsonATcarlsonswDOTcom), I'll take a look. If you could also include something like the *.JXL and/or *.RAW file(s) for a comparison, that would be helpful.
Sure no problem, i'll send it to you when i get my hands on the tablet again. Sidenote i did not use the raw editor of survey office, i just renamed the .raw to .rw5 as proposed earlier. I understand that the editor is might powerful but i need something that happens on the fly, it will be a considerable downtime, if i have to stop open some suite on the tablet convert and send to another device, it will defeat the purpose on a 2 man job that both operate on the field

I don't believe this will work (especially in SurvCE). Importing the *.raw and saving as a *.rw5 and then doing a bit-wise comparison would be the approach I'd take.?ÿ
