When my radio dies I would like to be able to switch over and use the instrument at as a conventional instrument.?ÿ The problem is it never wants to connect.?ÿ I assume I pick Topcon Direct (motorized 800).?ÿ Does anyone have experience with this setup that can give me advice?

What "new" connection method are you using, cable to DC?

I am, I think I figured it out.?ÿ Seems you have to go into STD (F2) option on the instrument before it recognizes a connection in SurvCE.?ÿ Im guessing prior to that its not sending out info on angles and distance
